IIPJHR participated to a conference organized by the Institute for Strategic Dialogue and the Norwegian Ministry for Foreign Affairs on Youth Against Violent Extremism in Oslo on 4 and 5 June, 2015. The first day was reserved to civil society activists while the second day was reserved to governments.

The conference opened with a speech of Norway’s Prime Minister and interventions from a range of experts. Four panels were then convened on different themes: counter extremism work within communities, activism and campaigning online, the role of faith in countering violent extremism and the role of gender in countering violent extremism. The concluding plenary session constituted a final chance for participants to share their stories and solutions to counter extremism.

The conference, which gathered 170 civil society activists constituted a formidable opportunity to exchange perspectives, stories and best practices related to the fight against extremism and the protection of youth against radicalization. IIPJHR would like to thank again the organizers for inviting our institution to this timely event.
